(You may use the above player to turn off the music on my pages if you would like) A LITTLE ABOUT DIXIEPIXIE: I am a legal secretary who took a 7-year hiatus as an at-home medical transcriptionist. I am now back in the legal world as of February 1, 2001. I have two children, a 20-year-old and a 15-year-old. My first grandchild is due December 13, 2002. Now, how did THAT happen??!! (Of course, I mean how did I get old enough to have a grandchild -- I KNOW how it happened!) I am a Northerner by birth and a Southerner at heart and by migration. I enjoy reading, writing poetry, doing crafts, including scherinschnitte (paper cutting) and playing with my computer. I like to keep up with technology (if you don't, you're dead in the water fast!). I like lighthouses, birdhouses and sunflowers. I enjoy fishing and was turned onto striped bass fishing. What a rush!!! There's just something so calming in the water... Below are three pictures. My first striped bass, my son's first striped bass, and my second striped bass. Awesome! I have also recently re-learned how much I enjoy being on a motorcycle. It's been many years, but I can tell you this -- if you loved it years ago, you will love it now! I was recently introduced to Honda Goldwings, and I have to say, that is the only way to go! My next pursuit is to obtain my very own motorcycle license hopefully soon! I was raised in a very positive family where faith and inspiration were high priorities. I will use this site to post inspirational sayings, poems and thoughts. If just one person stumbles in and finds some comfort when they need it, then I have accomplished something here. It was my inspirational upbringing that made me who I am today and has allowed me to weather the storms in life (and there have been many)!. I hope to share that inspiration with the right person(s) at the right time(s). One of my hobbies is photography. My newest photographic pursuit is digital photography. I haven't narrowed my photography down to one particular type of shoot, but just enjoy the times when I get that good shot of whatever I shoot. My most recent camera purchase is an Olympus C-3000 Zoom digital camera, and I'm really enjoying it. I'm always looking for the pictures that bring a calming effect when one looks at them and thus, really enjoy nature photography. I am hoping to complete a photography course that I started a few years back and was not able to complete. The thing that occupies me the most these days is my new home. It took me many years to be able to buy this, and I am so proud of it. I'm spending my time these days setting up and getting things "just right." Of course, that will take YEARS! I love teddy bears and have started a small but much-loved collection. To me, teddy bears are symbolic of love and comfort -- you know -- that warm, fuzzy feeling you got as a child when you snuggled up with your favorite teddy bear. I will post some pictures of my bear collection as well. I know there are many other collectors out there who enjoy seeing others' collections. Who knows exactly where this site will lead as it evolves. That's part of the fun! Again, I would like to welcome you to Dixiepixie's Place. I look forward to working on this site and watching it evolve. I also welcome any e-mail regarding the site or any thoughts and/or suggestions you might have after visiting. Ya'll come back now, ya' hear?!
